THE NEW SOCIAL-REVERSE-ENGINEERING

“Make it simple but not less simple” (cf. Einstein)

THE NEW SOCIAL-REVERSE-ENGINEERING (SRE)
The “War Rhetoric” is only a medial playing ball thrown to occupy the mind of the opposition! Medial SRE Diversion campaign!
Please think of the hard fact, that Melese is not so stupid to make a real war against Eritrea, unless the threat of a mass uprising against the autocratic rule of Isayas becomes immediately real in Eritrea! This is just how dictators dandle eachother in reciprocal solidarity, even if they are apparently enemies!

Nonetheless it has a purpose. The purpose of the war rhetoric is
1- Provide dictator Isayas with a "beautiful" pretext to crash any social uprising against his rule, as an intervention from Ethiopia
2- Stifle all potential sources of the social “tsunami”s, which threaten the region; he has "secured" his own region
3- Save his own autocratic rule from any possible mass uprising in Ethiopia by damping the source of the social “fire” in “his” periphery region.
4- Discredit any social uprising against his own regime with his campaign that it is "designed from Shabia"

That is the New SRE, possibly designed in the Saudi courts, the refuge of all dictators.
1- Medial diversionary attacks, campaigns and manipulations
2- Preemptive security measures, like  threatening or declaring wars.
Measures against ”weak” dictators to save the “big” dictators; or
Ultimately armed occupation or support with armed forces direct intervention just before a mass uprising unfolds  …
Their lessons from the neighbor of Saudi Arabian, the “Bahrain” uprising, to prevent “NEW TUNISIAs”!

"Combat Eritrea" - The "New" Social-Revese-Engineering

THIS IS ONLY A DRAFT (A beta version as we technicians call it)

Saudi Arabia has among others a highly vested interest in the "stability" of Ethiopia. So much at stake and so high the stocks;

- the "land grabbing" in particular! (clip-part-1 / clip-part-2)

To achieve this objective, lessons from the social movement burning the North African rulers and the whole Arab World have to be appraised to contain any sign of a new regime "change"; at its source and birth before it is too late, no matter how remote and farfetched, as far as it lies in the anticipated sphere of influence, NOT ONLY BAHRAIN (hope intervention in vain).

Sociology experts have to work out a "social reverse-engineering" design. It seems a social environment is required to experiment the designed social plan. Ethiopia and its leader Melese seem to be elected for this purpose. The war rhetoric against Eritrea is the initial indication of this fact.

The lessons from the 2011 social movement are roughly: without Tunisia, there is No Egypt, without Egypt no Libya; Yemen, Bahrain, etc,. To contain and save what can be saved, a social-reverse-engineering /SRE/ (ex. rallying supporters, employing thugs & mercenaries, introducing supercial reforms, installing security forces, infiltratiion, disruption & psychological warfare, medial confusion and prohibition etc.) has to be introduced. 1. SRE for Libya, 2. SRE for Egypt, and 3. SRE for Tunisia, correspondingly for Yemen, Bahrain etc.

Notes to reflect on the social-reverse-engineering (SRE) designed for Eritrea and Ethiopia !

"Combat Eritrea"

1. War rhetoric against Eritrea,
2. Give the Eritrean regime a pretext of the best caliber (nationalism) to stifle its mass uprising,
3. Help the opposition; but make sure the strife between the Ethiopian and Eritrean democrats sustains,
4. Threaten; intervention supported by "Ethio- international" forces,
5. Frustrate any sign of "change" on this side of Mereb
6. Whistle a fake "nationalist" rhetoric against the other side of Mereb - "Shabia".

Stifling any social movement in Eritrea is the crux matter of the design, since any movement in the region will spill over to Ethiopia, and even in the Horn of Africa as a whole; like it did from Tunisia to Egypt, Yemen, Libya and Bahrain etc. Due to the geo-political and historical proximity of Eritrea and Ethiopia or the similar social-relations, there can be no doubt that any authentic social mass movement for democracy and genuine freedom beginning in Eritrea would have a tremendous "Tsunami" effect in the whole region, primarily in Ethiopia. This has to be stifled even before it is anticipated and prior to its birth. That is their point.

So the real objective of all the recent war-rhetoric is not the tyrant Isayas at all, but, if it happens to come, the social uprising against the half century rule of the dictator, which may take an unpredictable momentum any time, any soon.

With this strategy, Melesse and his Saudi mentors are "resisting the beginnings", which they missed unaware in Tunisia, to experience all the "trouble" thereafter.

Beware of the War-Mongers! The war is anticipated for the SRE against the social movement of Dignity in the Horn, which may begin somewhere in a remote vicinity of Eritrea,- the latent "Tunisia" of the Horn of Africa, as projected in the scripts of the SRE from King Abdulah's court! Eritrea, which provides the best objective conditions for an uprising.

- An autocratic rule and a one man dictatorship over five decades,
- An ideologically disoriented ruling class looming with clashes and corruption-conflicts,
- A destitute people and a highly dissatisfied youth,
- A relatively homogenous community,
- Diversity with more national coherence,
- In the low lands spiritual & cultural affinity to the Arab World; religion & language

This is a highly volatile latent fire which may ignite the whole region; "extremely precarious, if left unattended", the SRE experts would say!

Beware Democrats ! Beware of the SRE! Eritrea ! Ethiopia! It is all our Common Human Dignity - Our Fraternity - which is at stake!

NO MORE WAR !

The Success Story has no end...

The success story reported again,

"Addis Ababa, March 23 (WIC) - Saudi Star Agricultural Development Plc, a food company owned by billionaire Sheikh Mohammed al- Amoudi, said it plans to invest $2.5 billion by 2020 developing a rice-farming project in Ethiopia.
The company, based in Addis Ababa, leased 10,000 hectares (24,711 acres) in Ethiopia’s western Gambella region for 60 years at a cost of 158 birr ($9.42) per hectare annually, Chief Executive Officer Haile Assegide sai
d "

A simple middle-class apartment in an average European city may cost $9,42 per square meter in a month, and annually this would be 12 times $9,42 per square meter.

That means, annually you would pay 12x more for the square meter than the Saudi investor does for the hectare in Gambella.  In other words with the annual-amount you pay for the square meter apartment, the Saudi investor gets 12 hectares; these are 120,000 square meters (1ha = 10,000).
If you can afford an apartment of 100 sq.meters, you would get a lease of 1200 hectares.
If you come together with 10 other Ethiopians under the same conditions, you would get a lease of 12000 hectares; 2000 hectares more than the Saudi Investor (10 000 ha.) would get.

If you have as much capital as you would pay for your apartment, it is an easy game.

If not and If you go to a bank to get the amount of capital what the Saudi Investor needs, this would amount to 10,000 x 9,42 = $ 94,200 a year. If you pay an interest of 10 % for this, it will be $9,420 per year. If you spare the extra 2000 ha. (to remain at the simple calculation),  you have enough savings to finance the interest for two consecutive years.  2000 x 9,42 = 2 x $9,420.

And at last all you need is the starting operative investment capital. A Start Capital, what a healthy nationally oriented commercial bank would be obliged to grant to its citizens. – Citizens, who are ready to work for themselves and the national development of their country.

To play with the round figures; How much?

"$2.5 Billion to Build Ethiopia Rice Farm." ...$2,500 000 000…This can make an investment of $250 000 each for 10 000 share-holders. The duration of the investment is 10 years, until 2020. In other words every shareholder needs to invest $25 000 per year on every hectare of the total of 10 000 hectares. Or one can make it cumbersome or a state-project with private holdings and a lot of combination-models are possible (1*. Given that 60% of the investment can be financed by a national development bank, the proprietors capital necessary for investment would be only $10 000 per year from each share-holder (10 000 share holders).

If you look behind the curtain; what the “big” investors are doing, is essentially nothing more than this calculation provided in all details by their canny-greedy consultants and accountants. They don’t perform miracles to get their capital out of the blues; and our big investor presumably collects also his investment capital, that he manages and administers,  from his 10 000 Saudi friends and citizens, who would employ all their influence of their King Abdullah to enforce  the protection of their investment in times of crisis, like what they are doing upto employing their armed forces in Bahrain these days - the days of social movements for Human Dignity.

Summa sammarum:
If there is the good Collective WILL, is this difficult for any state and government to organize and encourage its own citizens, to operate along this line; instead of going abroad in all directions of the globe, with “Land for Sale/ Ethiopia for Sale (clip)” shield, unless there is some hidden strategic agenda of domination etc.  – the new brand of Neocolonialism (clip).

BUT to be clear, the above narrative is only out of the perspective of the "investor and investment". The perception from the perspective of developing prosperity in coherence with the objective of sustaining nature and culture (the indigenous culture of the people) as a quality of life may however produce a very tragic story (clip).

In the context of the moment, it remains to say:

What a Success Story?

Gambella/ Ethiopia for Sale-

During the last 20 years, every Ethiopian knows that the “melese-world-acclaimed/" "democratic election" by the ruling clique in Ethiopia has not taken place for the first time in 2010. As far as I remember this has never been traded by the Melese ruling clique, as "a five year contract with the people of Ethiopia" etc..  Moreover, the academic discourse about "Democracy" as a form of contract etc. is four centuries old, so that no one would hardly come on the notion to make this a theme of a press conference.

So why is "contract" a subject of discussion for Melese!

These days, I think when Melese is talking about "the contract“, be it remembering the crash course he made on the "Hobbes" and  "Locke’s” State;  or pedaling between "The state, is it me"?  "the king" or "the rule", there are  rather some other facts which are haunting him in his subconscious.  The contracts of the land grabbing and similar projects scattered for out-sales into the globe of investors around India, Saudi Arabia, China, South Korea, until recently even Libya and Egypt or Nigeria or  Djibouti etc. !

The subconscious, as diligent as it is in every creature makes the simple arithmetic like the above, without consulting him or his "Excellency",  and gives the notes to the conscious designated  as  a life-threatening fact, since any Ethiopian is more or less aware of this. It would thus look for a survival justification with the consequence of prattling some stuff, which would take every normal citizen by surprise:

"The five years contract I made with the people"; "I can do and leave what I like during these days!";

And the witty sub-conscious suggests further the soothing internal remark

„Don’t worry;  you will be relieved from the specter in five years; to win the next election again and again... and the contract is for your and your children’s whole life time ….-60 years and more!"

"You can do and leave what you like during these troubling days of year 2011; Moreover every social movement is a question of terrorism, security force, - or you can call it  - law and order; like every one of your genre does...Go ahead; tell them that you would chop their fingers (clip), if they don't  fit in the row...like the royal houses of the investors do it"!

And so the sub-conscious would delegate the conscious to spit out the context-less concepts in the realm of confusion to play the parody of the wise leader - the wise tyrant, to claim the  "honor" of the late Mubarek, who was being praised for his wisdom until very recently by almost all politicians of the "pragmatic school" from the west, the East, the Far East , Middle East and the whole Arab world as well, except his own people, to leave the polit-arena for good on the day of the "account" – 11.02.2 011  - The Dignity Day of Egypt –

Distortions and Interests...

From

Principle and Peril

"Oil-rich and strategically located, Libya is not Western Sahara or the Ivory Coast. The reiterations by Obama and his British and French counterparts that “Qaddafi must go” put Western prestige on the line. So, say events proceed as the West appears to hope and the rebels somehow manage to dislodge the colonel. Or say the US-British-French troika deals the death blow itself. What then? Who will emerge to reconstruct a strong, central state? Who will the West back from among the rebels’ disparate ranks? As the veteran journalist Patrick Cockburn contends, it is likely to be those “who speak the best English” and are “prepared to go before Congress to express fulsome gratitude for America’s actions.” One might add that they are apt to be the most willing to give favorable terms to Western oil firms for invigorated exploration and exploitation of the country’s hydrocarbon deposits. Whether scions of the royal family deposed by Qaddafi in 1969 or renegades from the colonel’s subsequent regime, these elements are sure to be heavier on opportunism than on popular legitimacy. This Libya would look nothing like the democratic state of liberal interventionist dreams, and quite a bit like post-Saddam Iraq."

The globalisation of revolution - Opinion - Al Jazeera English

The globalisation of revolution - Opinion - Al Jazeera English

It is high time that such essays (see link) put the role of the modern means of communications in their appropriate relations to the human agency, who are employing them to  struggle for their freedom.
In the Interaction of MIND – Human Agency, Structure and CULTURE, the driving momentum of any social transformation or evolution, in the history of mankind, be it today or in the past, has always been the Human-Agency and not the means of communications.
Otherwise; to mention a classical example; when workers (not the scattered peasants) stage a strike and get a better wage, it is as ridiculous as entertaining the notion that the workers succeeded in their struggle, since the firm provided them with the social context where they could work together.
*
"To listen to the hype about social networking websites and the Egyptian revolution, one would think it was Silicon Valley and not the Egyptian people who overthrew Mubarak.
Via its technologies, the West imagines itself to have been the real agent in the uprising. Since the internet developed out of a US Defense Department research project, it could be said the Pentagon did it, along with Egyptian youth imitating wired hipsters from London and Los Angeles.
Most narratives of globalisation are fantastically Eurocentric, stories of Western white men burdened with responsibility for interconnecting the world, by colonising it, providing it with economic theories and finance, and inventing communications technologies. Of course globalisation is about flows of people as well, about diasporas and cultural fusion.
But neither version is particularly useful for organising resistance to the local dictatorship. In any case, the internet was turned off at decisive moments in the Egyptian uprising, and it was ordinary Egyptians, mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, who toppled the regime, not the hybrid youth of the global professional classes." (cf. The globalisation of revolution - Opinion - Al Jazeera English)

Gambella/Ethiopia for Sale

Ethiopia at centre of global farmland rush

What an out sale....This makes any Ethiopian sick;  even the one with the slightest love and a remote concern for the homeland :

The Guardian,

Ethiopia is one of the world's largest recipients of humanitarian food and development assistance, last year receiving more than 700,000 tonnes of food and £1.8bn in aid, but it has offered three million hectares (7.4 million acres) of virgin land to foreign corporations such as Karuturi.
"It's very good land. It's quite cheap. In fact it is very cheap. We have no land like this in India," says Karmjeet Sekhon, project manager for what is expected to be one of Africa's largest farms. "There you are lucky to get 1% of organic matter in the soil. Here it is more than 5%. We don't need fertiliser or herbicides. There is absolutely nothing that will not grow on it.
"To start with there will be 20,000 hectares of oil palm, 15,000 hectares of sugar cane and 40,000 hectares of rice, edible oils and maize and cotton. We are building reservoirs, dykes, roads, towns of 15,000 people. "This is phase one. In three years time we will have 300,000 hectares cultivated and maybe 60,000 workers. We could feed a nation here."
Sparsely-populated Gambella is at the centre of the global rush for cheap land, precipitated by the oil price rise in 2007/2008, when many countries racked by food riots encouraged their farmers to invest abroad to grow food.

It seems that the Big-Meme of the "Social-Tsunami" of North Africa and the Arab-world is reaching out to the Ethiopian opposition!

Some Points:

******************

1. True; etiquetting the Melesse clique with "Woyane" etc. was and  is counter-productive and "inacceptable" ( to use the new arrogant
"diplomatic" language of these days!).  Intended or not; I think "Woyane" has taken in between in the political perception of the opposition a new meaning: "bad" and some sort of stuff like "the bad other" with the outcome of unconsciously polarizing the political constituents along ethnic lines.

2. “ጉጅሌ"  "የትግራይ" .... What is the purpose of employing these new specifications too; to indicate "the Melesse clique" ? - Out of a similar consideration, this signification is meaningless too, albeit the reference in the context of the language employed makes it necessary.
*
The promotion of an all encompassing Ethiopian social transformation has to be free of the slightest indication of any bias and prejudice of ethnic or religious character.
************************

Along this line here are some of the points I share:

http://berhane-aymero.blogspot.com/2011/02/from-new-egypt-short-lessons.html

One fact is true!  History has witnessed innumerable times, once a regime loses its mass base or doesn't have a mass base, no party structure whatsoever can save a regime. That was the case with all ancient regimes, that was the case with the communist block, that was the case in the "social-tsunami" of Tunisia or Egypt etc. this year, dysfunctioning their ruling parties to null and nil... But still these are neither "paper tigers" nor natural tigers; but they are simply normal "sick" people who can cause all kinds of pains until they lose their old sick teeth or until they get their correct shock-therapy! The social tsunami! And the big question remains:
Is the social tsunami looming around the corner! Are the constituents volatile enough to  call for IT? Or.... or....is it only a "concert wish" with a bitter consequence? And there lies the responsibility of a serious political leadership! Nonetheless, we know that even science has its problems in the exact prediction of earth-quakes and tsunamis - The  "Japan - disaster" of these days speaks!

And what about the social-tsunamis ? Which are the signals and indications? That is the big point!

NO-FLY-ZONE over LIBYA

Due to the fact that Muammar Gaddafi has in fact got hold of its arms, partially from the leading powers, who are now committed to implement the "No FLY Zone", it is fair enough that the latter prevent the tyrant from the devastation of his own people and country any further; - by the very arms they provided him not so long ago.

LIBYA

Following is an article, which gives a well informed insider view on the Libyan Uprising (B-A)

Libya in the Balance

by Nicolas Pelham | published March 15, 2011
Since the rule of Col. Muammar Qaddafi had been even more gruesome than that of neighboring dictators, the Libyan people’s release from captivity by the February 17 uprising pulsated with an unparalleled hope. Freed from a ban on public assembly of four or more persons, rebel-held towns across Libya thronged with celebrants late into the night. Benghazi, Libya’s second city, which the colonel had stripped of its museums, cinemas and cultural symbols, including the mausoleum of its anti-colonial hero, ‘Umar Mukhtar, buzzed with impromptu memorials to Qaddafi’s victims, political theater, songs and art, and mass open-air prayers. And after four decades in which one man had appropriated the right to speak on behalf of a country, Libyans in their hundreds of thousands recovered their voice. “Your place, Muammar,” scrawl protesters on upturned rubbish bins.

A Rationale and Guide for Nonviolence

This Post is reproduced (from Monday, 18 January 2010)

here again to help the social movement of the youth, which has correctly deserved the name - SOCIAL Tsunami - shaking all tyrannies around the globe. -Tyrannies, which don't refrain  to employ all the means and the violence at their disposal, like what we are witnessing these days in Libya, Bahrain or Yemen, to extend their defunct survivals; whereas JAPAN is standing up to its challenge as one Nation, to save every single man/woman of its People from the NATURAL Tsunami and partially man-made disaster it is facing.

May ALL HOPE and OUR EMPATHY move to JAPAN !
AND
May ALL tyrannies come to their downfalls!

Hoping that JAPAN can cope with all the challenges and severe days it is facing today, it is now high time that Humanity has to reflect to the utmost to question the vulnerable trajectory  civilization has taken so far, negating  the very fundamentals of its future existence!

A Rationale and Guide for Nonviolence

".... life, from its beginning more than three billion years ago, did not take over the planet by combat but by networking."....Fritjof Capra /

Revolutions and wars are exceptions to the rule, coup d'etats are perversions of the rule....And the rule seems to be evolution embedded in creativity/emergence, whose existence becomes apparent in due time and space to initiate a fundamental change..... That is, I presume, the Kernel of human experience in history

 *
Nonetheless, it has to be noted here that Year 2011 has given us the opportunity to witness that there are good and bad exceptions.  EGYPT and the nonviolent youth movement for FREEDOM all over the Arab World and North Africa are testimonies of these good and beautiful phenomena liberating the MIND of every soul! What is the inter-relation between social structure and collective consciousness ?
What is the role of structure and collective consciousness in our future human development...?

*
Following is an aspect which I think is very relevant in our context and helpful for our community's political dead-lock:

***
Chapter Twenty-Two

A rationale and guide for nonviolence
as a basis for conscious evolutionary activism.

Hier reproduced in summary in accordance with the permission of the author:

In any situation or system, seek ways
to replace force with consciousness.
...
Force, in this context, refers to the use of coercion or
overwhelming strength or power to dominate, control, or otherwise
get one's way, often against resistance. The power used
can be physical, economic, social, intellectual, emotional, military,
psychological, technological, etc. The more force used,
the less we take into account the nature or needs of the Other.
The more we take the Other into account, the less force and
resources we need to accomplish mutual ends.
Consciousness, the capacity to be aware, in this context,
includes all the interior dimensions and capacities of life that
can—among other things—help us deal successfully with
our changing world by sensing, understanding and creatively,
collaboratively relating to the conditions in us and the entities,
interactions, and contexts around us.

This evolutionary moment challenges us to bring the power
of consciousness to bear on the process of self-reflective evolution
itself to replace the creative violence of supernovas, lifeand-
death struggles, and wars with highly aware intelligence,
wisdom, and care.

So as evolutionary activists, we seek to replace force everywhere,

in every entity (every individual, group and
system);
in every interaction (every conversation, exchange,
conflict, and engagement with nature);
in every context (every situation, culture, gathering,
community and urban design); and
in every form of consciousness (in all sensing,
learning, visioning, morality, and all other forms
of thinking, feeling and experience).
.....
...
Our consciousness then evolves
towards true collaboration, where we—
you and I, us and our adversaries,
humankind and nature—help each
other get what we each need and want—in cooperatives,
family conversations, in deliberative democracy, in Nonviolent
Communication, in permaculture.
...

This shift from force to consciousness is the fulcrum of
human evolution at this critical time—at individual, collective,
and systemic scales.
As we reach our planetary limits, the downsides of force,
violence, and control become increasingly obvious. Our
technological and social capacities to generate harm through
our efforts to force, impact, and control people and life—no
matter how well intended—threaten our extinction.
...
The more fully we understand, the less force or energy
we need or want to use. The less energy we use to serve any
given need, the more efficient and elegant our systems and
behaviors become, making them favored by natural selection
and the general directionality of evolution.
..
Guidance concerning evolutionary means:
..

A addresses the role of conversation.
B talks about creative use of diversity.
C explores how to handle dissonance.
• D discusses deep, inclusive simplicity.
...
..
Guidance concerning realms of evolutionary action:
...
..
• 1 deals with the health of the systems themselves.
• 2 deals with contexts and systemic awareness of them.
• 3 deals with the systemic capacity to effectively respond
to complex, changing circumstances.
...
1. Cultivate healthy self-organization.
..
• Cultivate healthy behavior
• Cultivate healthy power
• Cultivate healthy flow

2. Cultivate healthy systemic contexts.
..
• Healthy social context.
• Healthy contexts that govern meaning
• Healthy physical contexts
• Healthy natural contexts

3. Cultivate healthy systemic responsiveness and collective
evolvability.
..
• Cultivate collective intelligence, learning, and
memory -
• Cultivate collective self-awareness, integrity,
and humility -
• Cultivate the collective capacity to generate and
pursue shared intentions -
• Cultivate systems that embody collective compassion
and mutuality -
• Cultivate the collective ability to make wise,
creative decisions -
• Cultivate collective co-creativity and evolutionary
sensibilities -
